{"id":741,"date":"2013-04-26T22:34:05","date_gmt":"2013-04-26T22:34:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/miguelpdl.com\/weblog\/?p=741"},"modified":"2013-05-12T10:08:55","modified_gmt":"2013-05-12T10:08:55","slug":"3-counties-challenge-faugheen-5k","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/miguelpdl.com\/weblog\/3-counties-challenge-faugheen-5k\/","title":{"rendered":"3 Counties Challenge: Faugheen 5K"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This was the first run of the 3 Counties Challenge summer series 2013, a series of races organised by the <a title=\"Carrick RoadRunner\" href=\"http:\/\/www.carrickroadrunners.ie\" target=\"_blank\">Carrick Roadrunners<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/outfieldsports.ie\/\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.carrickroadrunners.ie\/images\/outfield_sports.gif?resize=244%2C47\" width=\"244\" height=\"47\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Faugheen 5K was out in the lovely little village of Faugheen, which is just north of Carrick-on-Suir and really is on the boarder of Kilkenny &#8211; Tipperary and believe the centre of a lot of rivalry.<\/p>\n<p>The course in this case was essentially a run around the block of Faugheen finishing up in the centre of the village. I&#8217;ve not been feeling the best for the last 2 weeks, blocked nose and all so there hasn&#8217;t been too many training miles put in, so I was unsure as to how this run would pan out.<\/p>\n<p>It was cold, damn cold at the start line, but the crowd of over 200 at the start line kept the breeze away.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 430px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.carrickroadrunners.ie\/deisegallery\/index.cgi?filter=33\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" \" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.carrickroadrunners.ie\/deisegallery\/files\/dsc_1035_1367880563160_large.jpg?resize=420%2C332\" width=\"420\" height=\"332\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Number 3 heading for the start line<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The pace at the start was mighty quick, in fact too quick I clocked a time of 3:45 for the first 1Km and even 3:55 at the 2Km mark, but I just wasn&#8217;t able to keep that pace going for the remainder of the run and so dropped back a bit. Once I found my rhythm my legs were a little heavy, but I carried through and clocked a time of 20:21 on my watch.<\/p>\n<p>From <a href=\"http:\/\/www.carrickroadrunners.ie\/files\/faugheen2013.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">the official timer<\/a> I had a gun time of 20:27, a chip time of 20:22, and out of 213 participants I was placed 77th.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m not unhappy with the overall result, but I must get back into the training plan.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This was the first run of the 3 Counties Challenge summer series 2013, a series of races organised by the Carrick Roadrunners.
