10K Session 16: Wow breathing better at last

August 27th, 2011

I’m going to count yesterdays walk up Croagh Patrick as Session 15. Anyway this time I finally found a quiet road, a couple of sharp inclines but nothing too bad and finally I think I managed to match my breathing with my running pace.

I’m finally starting to feel good about this!

10K Session 14: Great scenery tough road

August 24th, 2011

Truly some great scenery on this run, and while I took a less used road and not so hilly I still found the run a bit tough.

10K Session 13: Mayo its mountainous

August 22nd, 2011

Well I’ve missed a session but for good reason, I’ve spend the best part of 5 hours travelling from Kilkenny to Mayo as I had a short summer break with the family to Westport. But given I had started this training programme I have to continue in some way so here’s my first session in Mayo, and boy is this place mountainous.

It started off with a great run on the beach, but eventually the hills towards and back from Louisburgh were just too much.

10K Session 11:I still hate sprinting

No really I hate any type of sprinting exercise

10K Session 10: First half good, second half bad.

August 16th, 2011

Took a trip down the bog road today and felt great for the first 6.5km and then a gasket blew and I found the last bit of the run tough.

Although straight after the run I must say I did feel good, as the foot is starting to hold up now for the full length of the session

10K Session 9: Sunny day and go day for a run

August 14th, 2011

Was told to rest again by physio so no Session 8, but I bought new footwear

Here’s my thoughts after the session

10K Session 7: Good, Bad and Ugly

August 11th, 2011

Were did sessions 5 & 6 get to, well the right foot isn’t holding up too good, and I have a bit of trouble with my plantaris and flexor hallucis longus, so the physio tells me anway.

So I had a couple of treatments instead of a run and I left good today so I went for the session. What’s really frustrating as the early part of the run was going well and then the pain started to creep in and thus ended the session.

So a slow walk home and back to the physio for me and maybe a change of footwear.

10K Session 4: 20 min at a constant rate is hard

August 6th, 2011

It’s tough when you have to run 65% for 20 mins non-stop and I’m not sure if I even achieved that, let’s see what the graph say:

10K Session 3: Sprints do I hate them

August 4th, 2011

It was all about sprints for todays session and boy to I hate sprints.

Session 2: 50 min workout

August 3rd, 2011

Must remind myself it’s not the distance covered but the “paced” effort. Today was good but I wasn’t too happy with the way I’m landing on my right foot, as I’m causing some pain to shoot through the right ankle.

Looks like I’m okay until the 5km mark, there is some sense of consistency up to that point, well a little bit, but after that I’m slowing way down, the legs just got heavy.
